On-Location Top 5

The cosplay community is one of the most energetic and enthusiastic communities I have the pleasure of being part of.  Cosplayers are inventive and creative individuals who painstakingly craft, sew, and build costumes to wear at conventions and other events.  Photographing characters brought to life by cosplayers is one of my passions.  I have been shooting cosplayers at conventions, and while this has worked and has been convenient for both cosplayer and photographer alike, I think a case has to be made for doing more cosplay shoots outside of convention grounds.  Here’s my top 5 reasons why you should consider doing your shoots on-location, too.

imPhotography @ MegaCon 2014

MegaCon. Orlando’s  (and quite possibly Florida’s) biggest multi-genre geekery convention. I attended my first MegaCon back in 2010, and it has been a staple in my schedule every year since then. I am always amazed at the crowd this convention draws every year, and this being my fifth year in attendance, expected nothing less.  And MegaCon definitely delivered, to the tune of something at or more than 75,000 attending!  Day passes were sold out on both Saturday and Sunday!  Quite the mass of people standing around and about; that is, if you actually made it to the convention center.  More after the jump!

Hey friends!  We’re back and finally kicking again after KatsuCon 2014, one of the biggest cosplay conventions on the east coast!  First big convention of the year!  What a trip this was: I wasn’t sure we were going to make it for a little bit there!  We fought the weather in, through, and out of this con!  As a lifelong Floridian, I will never ever underestimate a snowstorm again!  JetBlue was amazing though and canceled and rescheduled our flight ahead of time so we made it way ahead of schedule with plenty of time to spare!  Hit the jump for the details on our weekend!

Hey friends! Throwback Thursday!  Welcome back!  Since KatsuCon 2014 is right around the corner, I felt it was highly appropriate for me to send Throwback Thursday to KatsuCon 2013 (My first one)!  We were fortunate enough to land an Artist Alley booth where we ran Elysia’s “Cosplay Couture Photobooth” under Fenyx Design.  Unfortunately, that meant we were stuck in Artist Alley for the majority of the convention.
